* Monologue *
Today is Wednesday. It’s a nice day in Ho Chi Minh City. My family and I fly to Hanoi. When we arrive, the weather is so different. It’s rainy.
We want to visit the city, but it’s pouring with rain. It’s raining cats and dogs. We have to stay in the hotel for long hours. We can’t go anywhere. We wait all day long in our room.
It is nighttime; and it is still raining very heavily. We still can’t step out. It’s so boring in this room. I hate it so much. I watch TV until 10 PM, and I fall asleep.
Thursday morning, I wake up around 6 AM. Fortunately for us, it stopped raining. We want to go to the market. My father tells me the name of the market. It’s Long Bien. I’m so impatient.
Around 6:30 AM, my father calls a taxi. At 6:45, I am standing in front of the market. I am so excited. I can’t wait to explore the market. I walk. I run. I am well ahead of the rest of my family. I go everywhere. I just look straight ahead, and I don’t care about anybody.
Ten minutes later, I stop running. I turn around. Oh no! I don’t see my family. Suddenly, I am not excited anymore. I feel so scared. I walk around for about an hour, looking for my mom and dad. I look for them almost everywhere, but I don’t see them.
Suddenly, I see a police officer, and I think the police can help me find my family. I look for the police station. I ask people around me. They show me the police station, and I go there to ask for help.
I just walk in, and much to my surprise, I see my mom and dad. I can hardly contain my joy at seeing them again. There are tears of joy in my eyes.
