Elementary Business English is the first level of a 3-level course. This course aims to integrate the fundamental skills needed for a conversation in English with targeted business language components, including:

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is for businesspeople, students of business English and everyone involved in international business. The course is designed for business executives, professionals, entrepreneurs and business graduates to build language confidence through improved comprehension and to develop fluency and accurate pronunciation.
If you are in business, the course will greatly improve your ability to communicate in English in a wide range of business situations. If you are a student of business, the course will develop the communication skills you need to succeed in business and will enlarge your knowledge of the business world. Everybody studying this course will become more fluent and confident in using language of business and should increase their career prospects.

Reading: Develop your reading skills and learn essential business vocabulary. Read adapted articles on a variety of topics from business-oriented newspapers.
Listening: Develop listening skills such as listening for information and note-taking. Hear interviews with businesspeople.
Language review: Review and focus on common problem areas at elementary level. You will become more accurate in your use of language.
Skills: Develop essential business communication skills such as making presentations, taking part in meetings, negotiating, telephoning, and using English in social situations.
Case study: The case studies give you opportunities to practice your speaking skills in realistic business situations. They allow you to use the language and communication skills you have developed. Each Case study ends with a writing task.

LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
Students who wish to enroll in this course must be able to speak, read and write at a Mid-Advanced to Advanced level.
Students will be given a placement test to determine their levels. If students do not place in mid-advanced or advanced, they may be placed at the appropriate level in “English for Communication” until the level needed for the Business English Course has been reached.
